Continuing Care
SSHA is putting in place computer technology products and services so Continuing Care sector workers can access the information you need to offer patient care. You will be able to connect to each other, and soon, to doctors, hospitals, laboratories, public health offices, and pharmacies.
The stages in the process are:
ONE Network
ONE Network Access
ONE Network Access is designed for health care providers to access the Internet and securely transfer data between other connected users. ONE Network Access is a secure, private network, managed by Smart Systems for Health Agency (SSHA).
ONE Network Access functions as the foundation for a variety of current and future e-Health applications. It will serve as the gateway as health care providers become connected and applications become available, such as laboratory orders and results, prescription drug history and Health Card Validation.
Benefits
Current:
- Obtain Internet access with no monthly fees
- Independent from public and government networks
- Access health care related information including access to portals such as www.PublicHealthOntario.ca and www.eHealthOntario.ca
Future:
- Access applications such as Health Card validation
- Access e-Health services such as:
- ONE Mail – SSHA’s secure e-mail solution and
- ONE Pages – a searchable directory of users to whom you can securely e-mail
- Connect to physicians, specialists, laboratories and pharmacies

- Bandwidth speed is equivalent to standard high-speed offerings available today
– one megabyte downstream and 330K upstream - Access to a private network exclusively for health care providers
- Includes a Small Office Firewall Appliance (SOFA) to help protect against unauthorized users accessing your system
- Monthly network costs paid by SSHA
